TL;DR: I’m Gage Geigle, a software engineer and maker who wants you to feel the benefit of my work, not just understand it. I build tools, programs, and physical objects that make life easier or less frustrating. I write about the ones worth sharing here.
What do I build?
I gravitate toward utility you can experience. A program should smooth something annoying out of your day. A 3D-printed part should solve a real problem for someone you care about. When either one works, you notice.
That shows up in different places:
- Software and tools. I write programs that remove friction, like a personal utility born from annoyance (like a CLI for bulk-deleting objects in Linode Object Storage when the web console would not). Sometimes my work serves entertainment environments (like a custom sound-effect device for an amusement park ride).
- Revived gadgets. I like bringing old hardware back to life. When I restored and upgraded an MTP-based MP3 player (a Creative Zen Vision:M), I wrote software to make loading music onto it practical again.
- Parametric 3D prints. Most of my OpenSCAD work starts with someone I love needing something fixed or improved. The soap dish is a good example: it drains properly, avoids pooled water, and can be configured for bespoke bars you might find on Etsy.
Why the retro and sci-fi vibe?
In my hobbies I chase retro and sci-fi atmosphere. Electronic music on vinyl and cassette, old film cameras, mechanical interfaces that feel tangible. The more mechanical something feels, the more exciting it is to me.
That sits comfortably next to a taste for bleeding-edge tech. I am not choosing nostalgia or the future; I like the tension between them. It is the same sensibility behind Gage’s Garage: a dark synthwave palette with neon edges, and practical work at the bench.

This is my personal site for the profession, hobbies, and nerdy projects I am proud to show. It is also where I put things I think people might want to read about.

Details about my day-to-day work tend to leak through those articles when they are relevant. I keep this site focused on the builder, not the résumé.
